Hypnosis For Stopping Smoking – Kick The Habit, Get A Life!

I have often been asked if hypnosis for stopping smoking is indeed an effective means to kick the butt, and my reply has always been affirmative. Hypnosis, recent research has proven, affects smokers vary noticeably. I recently read an article on the website newscientist.com, which talks about a research conducted by two researchers from the University of Iowa; a cross section of over 72,000 people across the globe who were in the process of quitting smoking. The results showed that out of all the methods used for de-addiction, hypnotherapy for stopping smoking was a resounding success.

A lot of hypnotherapists, including me, have been successfully using methods of hypnotherapy to help their clients in giving up the habit. The Iowa research has also proven that hypnosis for stopping smoking indeed showed better results than people who had been trying to give it up with no intervention, how else could it’s success rate be double of every method. A lot of smokers who want to quit the habit have failed in their efforts because of lack of will power and determination. However, clients who have used hypnotherapy seemed to set up a stronger example in terms of abstaining and a greater willpower.

Here’s how hypnosis for stopping smoking works- it works on the simple philosophy of positive suggestions. In hypnotherapy, a lot has to do with the power of your subconscious mind and helping it achieve great feats with the help of auto suggestion. When the method of hypnotherapy is used for smoking, it tells you the reasons of why and how you smoke, before moving on to suggestions of how you can stop smoking, and maintain the abstinence. With hypnotherapy you gradually instruct your mind to create positive thoughts, and build willpower in the face of temptations of nicotine and smoke.

It might sound very easy to you, but the fact is that it indeed is easy to use hypnosis for stopping smoking. One session with a hypnotherapist is all you need. By deciding to give up the habit, you have already made the hardest decision in the quitting process. Things only get better from here! The key to a successful no-smoking life is to follow the hypnosis routine regularly, as it is only practice that makes one perfect in self-hypnosis. Remember hypnosis for quitting smoking works on the power of positive suggestion; the more time you invest in self-hypnosis for smoking, the better the results. Add on sessions are offered by most therapists; however I personally feel that these top up sessions should only be used when extremely necessary. Hypnosis is about self reliance, so you shouldn’t be dependent on your therapist for all guidance. Be your own driver!

Smoking is a habit, whether it’s good or bad is an individual decision. But if you have decided to give it up, don’t let anything stop you. You have no idea how proud you will be a year from now, when you refuse a cigarette offered to you. It will not only boost your confidence and self-worth, but it will also lead to a heavier pocket. If you are a chain smoker, you could end up saving a great deal (close to  £2000); and then you could go ahead and splurge on a lavish holiday. A luxurious holiday in the Bahamas in exchange of 20 cigarettes a day seems like a good deal. Just think about it!

I will not even shy away from saying that quitting smoking is child’s play; but only if you know the best way to achieve this. Nicotine is one of the hardest habits to break in the world, but hypnosis for stopping smoking could be your answer. Through positive affirmations you could achieve much more than just ridding yourself of the butt of all problems. Imagine having a healthier life, better performance at work, more stamina to play your favorite sport, and quality time with your family. Isn’t it just the life you want?

Instant Stress Relief? Five Easy No-Tools-Required Techniques to Calm You Down When You’re Stressed Out Or Overwhelmed

Paul ThurmanPicture this scene…..

It’s another uncomfortable day at the office. Your inbox is filled to the brim.  The boss is hollering your name….you don’t hear exactly what they say but you’re able to pick out the words “dead line”.  Your head begins to throb and your stomach tenses. You need an immediate cool down before you pop!  Unfortunately,  you’re not in the position to make use of your normal tried and tested techniques that bring you comfort.  Your iPod with the soothing music is at home, and it would be highly inappropriate in a professional setting to brew herbal tea, light aromatherapy oils, or take a nice hot bath.

What can you do? …… Is suffering the only option?

Thankfully, the answer is a resounding “No”! There are a large number of effective techniques that depend only on your willingness and memory to put them into play.  Below I have listed five no-tools-required techniques that I’ve found very useful:

  1. Slow Deep Breathing- When you get upset your breathing tends to become quick and shallow.  This combination reduces the flow of oxygen to your brain and limits your ability to make calm rational decisions.  By reversing this pattern and taking slow deep breaths you instantly create a deep calming effect.  Usually after only three slow deep breaths you feel 80% better.
  2. Focus on the things that are going right- Often stress comes when you’re looking only at the negatives.  In the situation above you could focus on the fact that a full inbox and deadlines mean that your company is a success and that means a steady paycheck to meet all those monthly bills.
  3. Be Thankul- Either out loud or in your head (the more practical choice if you have co-workers surrounding you) list the people that you’re thankful for.  Sounds a bit mushy, but it works!
  4. Use EFT- Tap on the points that are illustrated here while focusing on each thing that’s stressing you.  The effects are usually so immediate and spetacular that you’ll be blown away!
  5. Stroke your forearms gently- You’ll literally feel tingles go through you with this one. If you want even greater tingles of peace, imagine someone you like doing it for you….it’s hard to be stressed while tingling.

What happens if I do these five things and I am still stressed?

If these techniques appear not to work for you, contact me at info@hypnominutes.com and I’d be happy to make further suggestions.

Peace and Love,

Paul

Improve your self confidence in 15 minutes

Improving your confidence does not have to take years of therapy.  Pay attention to this excellent article and learn how to do it in minutes.

Improve your self confidence in 15 minutes

I used to be frighteningly under confident in social situations. And although people who know me now would never believe I used to doubt myself so much I literally had to learn confidence until it became a natural part of me. I can tell you relaxed optimistic confidence is just, well so much more fun.

Here I’ll tell you about the things that made the most difference to my confidence levels…

Some people have naturally high levels of confidence but everybody can learn to be more confident

Firstly, it’s important to get a clear idea of what self confidence really means, otherwise you won’t know when you’ve got it! So, self confidence means:

1) Being calm. For every situation in life you need to run on the appropriate level of emotion. Too much emotional ‘leakage’ into a experience can spoil the experience. You make great strides towards confidence when you begin to relax in a greater range of situations.

2) Being cool. The second part of self confidence is about being able to relax with uncertainty. To be ‘cool’ in a situation really means relaxing with not knowing how things will pan out. If you truly tolerate uncertainty, you can do pretty much anything.

3) Not being too concerned with what others think of you. You know when you imagine what some place is going to be like before you go there but when you get there it is totally different to your imagination? That’s how reliable your imagination is! Stop trusting your imagination so much. I’ve long since stopped bothering to imagine what others think of me because so often I’ve turned out to be wrong.

4) Being specific – where do you want confidence? ‘Confidence’ is meaningless until you tie it to something specific. You are already confident that you can read these words or can switch a light on and off. So you don’t need more confidence everywhere. To get what you want in life you have to establish exactly what you do want. Where do you want confidence in your life? Think about the specific situations now and write them down. You beginning to steer your brain towards confidence.

5) Understanding that what you expect is what you get. Your brain is an organ that needs clear goals to work towards. When a task has been set in your brain it will do everything it can do to bring about the completion of that task. If you’ve tried to recall someone’s name but can’t, hours later you’ll often find their name pops into your head.

The ‘trying to recall’ experience set the task or blueprint for your brain’s future subconscious behaviour which eventually produced the name for you – when you weren’t thinking about it consciously. You can use this natural mechanism to start feeling more confident. But, to ensure you set the right task for your subconscious mind, the next point is vital.

6) Don’t task your mind with negatives. Instead of: ‘I don’t want to screw up’ (which sets the task of ’screwing up’ for your brain), set the blueprint for what you do want! Your brain doesn’t work towards what to do by being told what not to do. And nature has given you a wonderful natural tool to set the right task blueprints with.

7) Use nature’s goal-setter: Now you understand how vital it is to set the right task for you brain, you need to know how to do this reliably. Good hypnosis will strongly ‘program’ the right blueprint in your mind through the use of your imagination. If you powerfully imagine feeling confident and relaxed while in a relaxed hypnotic state it will be hard for your unconscious mind to do anything else. The blueprint for relaxation has been set firmly into your subconscious mind.

3 simple strategies to get you feeling confident quickly:

1) Think specifically of the time/place/situation you want to feel confident in. Remember ‘confidence’ doesn’t mean anything until you attach it to something specific.

2) Focus on words in your mind right now that describe how you do want to be in that time and place. Maybe words such as ‘calm’, ‘relaxed’ or ‘focused’. Remember your brain works on clear positive instructions.

3) Close your eyes for as long as you like and think about how those words feel. Then, imagine the situation itself and rehearse it in your mind feeling confident and relaxed. This way you set the right blueprint or ‘task’ for your unconscious mind.

You can repeat this often to make it more effective and use it with as many areas of your life as you need to. If you listen to a hypnotic cd or download that can make the benefits even more powerful (see my profile below). So if you feel like you’d be blessed with less confidence than some other people you can start redressing the balance by using your mind in the right way right now.

It took me years to learn how to be more confident – now you can do it in a fraction of the time. Good luck!

7 Ways to Soothe your Shyness

July 21, 2008 by admin

This great article by Mark Tyrell of HypnosisDownloads.com gives some great advice about overcoming shyness:

[display_podcast]

7 ways to soothe your shyness

Shy people instinctively know that they are missing out. Shyness equals lost opportunities, less pleasure and fewer social connections. Shyness can be crippling but there are tried and tested ways to make it a thing of the past.

When I was fifteen I was shy. I recall an attractive girl attempting to engage me in conversation. My shyness made me focus on me instead of her. I heard my own voice but not hers and I thought about what I was trying to say instead of what she was trying to say.

The formula for shyness is “too much focus on the self” plus anxiety. To make it even more unpleasant, sometimes when you are feeling shy you experience physical sensations which ‘hijack’ your calm logical self.

My pulse raced, my mouth dried up and I felt like the village idiot! I couldn’t think what to say so I said nothing apart from making barely audible grunting noises! Cary Grant eat your heart out! When I detected pity in her eyes (or was it contempt, or boredom) I mumbled my excuse and got out of there. I hated being shy and was determined to change it.

How shyness is developed and maintained

Shyness really is a combination of social anxiety and social conditioning. To overcome shyness you need to learn to relax socially. This enables you to direct your attention away from yourself and gives you the space to practice certain conversational skills. In most cases, the heightened emotions of socializing when young simply condition the sufferer to respond to social events with fear, instead of excitement and pleasure.

Relaxed socializing is so pleasurable, not to say productive, but it is an advantage denied to many until they learn to relax. To start reducing your own shyness, I want you to absorb the following tips and ideas and start to put them into practice:

1) Think about the way you feel and behave around familiar people you are comfortable and spontaneous around. It’s that feeling transferred to new people and situations that equates to your emerging social confidence.

2) Focus your attention away from yourself. Sure, you can think a little bit about how you are coming across, but if all your focus is on your own words and feelings then you might as well be by yourself. Notice what other people are wearing and make a mental note, listen to their conversation, imagine where they might live, make a point of remembering names. Not only does this give you more to talk about, it also ‘dilutes’ social anxiety leaving you feeling calmer.

3) Ask people open questions. Many people like to talk about themselves and will find you interesting if you find them interesting. Ask questions that require more than a ‘yes’/'no’ response such as ‘What do you like about this place?’ rather than: ‘Do you like this place?’ Once they’ve answered use ‘add-on’ questions connected to the first such as: ‘What other places do you like in this city.?’ Next you can express your views. This is a great way to get the conversation going. If the conversation doesn’t ‘take’ then no matter, you’ve done your bit.

4) Stop trusting your imagination so much! Have you ever had an imaginary picture in your mind of a holiday destination only to arrive and find the reality is different from the way you had imagined? That’s how reliable imagination is. Stop imagining what others think. I do lots of public speaking and I’ve long since stopped trying to second guess what others think of me – it’s just too painful. Besides, what a person thinks about you has a lot more to do with who they are than who you are.

5) Stop using ‘all or nothing’ thinking. The ‘completely this/completely that’ style of thought occurs when you are emotional. People who are depressed, angry or anxious see reality in terms of differing extremes, simplistic all or nothing terms. An angry person is ‘right’ and you are ‘wrong’; the depressed person feels like a ‘failure’ while others are a ’success’. In reality, life is composed of infinite gray areas. So stop fearing that you might say the ‘wrong’ thing! Or that people will ‘hate’ you. Once you start to relax more socially you’ll notice much less black or white thinking because anxiety actually causes you to think in all or nothing terms.

6) Take your time. You don’t have to blurt things out. Ask questions and if questions are asked of you can take time to consider your response (within reason). Don’t just blurt out what you think might be the ‘right’ answer. A slow answer is a relaxed answer.

7) Finally, use hypnotic rehearsal. Hypnosis is the quickest way to change your instinctive/emotional response to any situation. Only think about meeting others when your mind and body is relaxed. This conditions you to associate relaxation with being around new people. In fact you’ll find that when you relax deeply enough often enough whilst hypnotically rehearsing being comfortable around others you’ll reach the point where you just can’t be shy any more! This is what I call a ‘happy inability!’

I now love meeting new people and suspect that my current social confidence would be unrecognizable to my fifteen year old self.

Revealing the Truth About Penis Enlargement Methods by Sebastian Callen

When it comes to penis enlargement truth, people think of spam e-mail address and credit card fraud and cheating. It is, in fact real that, all the sellers are willing to make more money, and then some, but that may not be the case for everyone, a small number of honest companies, is committed to helping us with these extra inches we need most!

Only a few solutions are available for penis enlargement. Some of them are dangerous; some of them are null and void. So, here are some methods of penis enlargement, that works and what does not:

Vacuum Pumps – they do not work!

The penis is vacuum sealed in a tube and is confined to the air around the end. A negative pressure then plucks the blood (and lymph fluid) in the penis and swelling of the latter occurs. The process takes about a minute and the results can have very deep impression.

The problem is, when you remove your penis, the size of sex returns back to normal. You staunch the outflow of blood and lymph fluid around a ring fitting on the base of your member. It is usually allows the penis to maintain its new perimeter for the expansion for a few minutes, enough to insert and at least one change in their position, before you will need pump it once more.

For the pump to draw blood in the penis, so that it is grows, they useful in the treatment of impotence (erectile dysfunction). It is a misconception that made the penis look bigger, but the result is rarely sustainable. Abusive use can lead to elastic tissues damage in the member, and lead to less firm erections.

Pills, patches, lotions, oils, creams – they do not work!

These are usually in the forms of vitamins, minerals, herbal plants or hormones such as testosterone that claim to increase the penis. These products have not been proven to be effective yet. A worst case scenario: you can take high risks from allergic reaction or you can overdose. In both cases, call the nearest poison control center, there are indications that show very specific details on the content of the bottle and the amount you have to absorb in the human body, or apply to your skin.

Surgery – it’s working, but the risk is too high!

Surgery is the opted method for any urologist. If at any time, you will ask for doctors advice, surgery is the first and the last thing you will hear about. Some surgeons have developed a number of different enlargement methods, but none are backed by the medical institutions. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and American Urological Association has issued a policy statement on cosmetic surgery procedures to enhance the male member.

Research shows that most men are not satisfied with the results of the penis enlargement surgery. Surgery can add an average of the best half an inch to the length of the flaccid penis. Surgery can not add any length to a raised penis.

With the following types of cosmetic surgery to increase the penis, some men have to accept additional actions to correct the distortion induced by the original procedure. Negative effects, including injury, a small penis, hair, on the basis of gender, some low-hanging sex, abnormal sensitivity and fat mass loss while other complaints, including impotence, enuresis and lasting suffering.

Since then, some of the cost: Ten thousands US dollars for the expansion of a specific penis surgery, it does not need additional surgery. Because cosmetic surgery is rarely included in insurance, you will have to afford the full cost.

Penis Exercises – they do work, but this will need some time for results!

Penis exercises are a very cheap, safe and effective way to expand your member. It is very possible that this method has been employed for hundreds or thousands of years for penis enlargement, but no known research has been attempted to clear up this subject.

Penis exercises do work with great results, and they accompany the added benefits of contributing to a much more longer, thicker penis: you also get to know your body and its response to the very best enhancement for your sex life.

Traction Devices and Jelqing Devices – They are the straight and easy solutions to penis exercises!

They are much more expensive than the exercise plans, but they have better results.

Traction devices and jelqing devices are the luxury version of the penis exercises. The use of force and pressure control, every time you exercise, you will get fast results. If you know that you have to see things happen, you need to continue to encourage yourself, this is more than what you need.

The whole truth about penis enlargement methods is revealed. If you want to know about penis enhancement, what works and what is the best way, you know you can now make your choice easily!

7 Ways to Avoid Obesity

June 16, 2008 by Paul

[display_podcast]

Why do so many people overeat? How have portion sizes changed? And how can we moderate our food intake?

Why do some people eat that little bit more even when they‘re not hungry? In many cases the causes are emotional. The pleasure that eating brings can temporarily take their minds away from the dissatisfaction that they feel inside .

Sadly that extra helping is contributing to the obesity numbers in the West. In the US obesity increased by around 15% from 1971 to 1999. Portion sizes have grown accordingly.

The devastating effects of overeating are both physical (lethargy, poor digestion, gas and weight gain) and emotional (guilt, remorse, anger, etc).

Let’s be clear. A little weight gain tends to be natural with age. The big issues are staying fit, healthy, and content with our bodies.

To add to the ever climbing obesity levels portion sizes have changed and so have the perceptions of what constitutes a normal portion. In one study young adults chose items for each meal. Compared to a similar study 20 years ago some portions were up to 40% larger.

Eating ‘just enough’ contributes to good health. Studies show that nutrient dense food in smaller portions actually contributes to longevity.

Here are the 10 best ways that you can moderate portion size and guarantee that you won’t become a part of the sky rocketing obesity statistics:

- Free yourself of the emotional needs to eat. Eating should only be a physical need. I would personally suggest either EFT or hypnotherapy to change how you think about food. I suggest these two methods because both are quicker than most therapies and neither require drugs of any kind.

- Sit down at the table when you eat. Trying to eat on the run or sitting down in front of the television are two ways to guarantee over-eating

-Serve yourself in the kitchen. This will allow you to feel the right amount to put on your plate and stop the potential for unnecessary seconds.

- Use slightly smaller plates. Though this will make a tremendous difference in portion sizes, it will not change the satisfaction level at all.

- Drink a pint of water prior to eating. It is easy to mistake dehydration as part of your hunger.

- Chew slowly and really enjoy the taste of your food. When you eat quickly it takes longer for your body’s full signal to reach the brain, so you may continue eating with the belief that you are still hungry.

- Eat with gratitude. When you are thankful you are happy, and when you are happy you are naturally supporting healthy digestion.

Three Easy Steps to Slimming for the Summer

[display_podcast]

Summer is upon us yet again and if you are like millions of women worldwide you’re still trying to shed a few extra pounds so that you look fabulous in your swimming costume for your holiday on the beach. Doubtless on your quest you’ve tried at least a few of the weight loss courses, products, programs, or books that promise to help you easily make your goal. And if you are like the majority of the women, you’ll have discovered that they were not for you and most likely have moved on to yet another.

In my private practice in Hampshire I work with hundreds of ladies every year who are in this cycle. By teaching them both self-hypnosis and EFT, I help them to literally become their own therapist with enough skills and confidence to control their weight.

Along with these powerful techniques I teach them three essential actions that are necessary to weight loss regardless of which path you choose to take as well as one very powerful optional one. It’s these actions I wish to share with you today:

Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables in-between and even after your meals- In doing this you both eliminate the need for unhealthy snacks and feel more full of energy and vitality.

Pick specific times to eat- Find three specific times in your schedule when you have time to sit down and truly enjoy your meal. I know this is difficult with all the demands in your life, but it needn’t be more than twenty minutes each break. By sticking to these specific times, you will be teaching your body to process the food at a time that is convenient for you.

Walk daily- It is absolutely incredible all the benefits that this gentle exercise can give you even if you walk only fifteen minutes a day. I suggest to all my clients that they start here and work up to an hour and a half for maximum benefits.

(Optional) Consider using EFT for the cravings even if you do not use it for any other part of your plan- There is a quick tapping technique that can fully eliminate your immediate cravings and allow you to make a more positive choice.

Though these steps alone may not be enough to get full results you want, they will increase the benefits you get from your chosen program by at least 100%

If you are suffering from either long-term weight gain or obesity I would highly encourage you to work with both your GP and a qualified therapist to get your body back into shape.
